Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced problems to drinking water, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and applying restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were injured.

The assaults succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were preparing for further attacks.
